Charles Lenegan, Chairman
Charles Lenegan was appointed Chairman of Bis Industries in July 2013.
Charlie was a former Managing Director of Rio Tinto Australia. He had a distinguished 27 year career with Rio Tinto where he held various senior management positions across a range of commodities and geographies. Charlie is also a former Chairman of Rey Resources Limited and the Minerals Council of Australia and a former board member of the Business Council of Australia. Charlie holds other Non-Executive Directorships with Oz Minerals (since 2010) and Turquoise Hill resources (since 2012).
Ian Lynass, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
Ian Lynass was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bis Industries in May 2010.
Ian has 13 years of experience working for Bis Industries: the last 3 as CEO and previously in senior operational leadership roles, during which time he was directly responsible for every contract within the business today. Throughout his years at Bis Industries Ian has held various roles in Oil & Gas, Mining, Business Development and Industrial Services both within Australia and Northern Europe. In June 2006, Ian was a key member of the Executive team that led the sale of Bis Industries / Cleanaway to KKR. He has deep and established relationships within the mining and oil and gas industries globally. Prior to joining Bis Industries he worked for 15 years in operational leadership roles at other Australian resources contractors.
Justin Reizes, Non-Executive Director
Justin Reizes was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis Industries in June 2006.
Justin joined KKR in 1999 and became a Director of Bis Industries in 2006. He is a member of KKR’s Private Equity platform and leads KKR’s Australian operations. Justin has worked in KKR’s London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney offices. Since moving to Asia in 2005, he has been actively involved in developing KKR’s Asian operations and is a member of KKR’s Asian Portfolio Management Committee. Justin has played a role in the investments in Tenovis, Maxeda, Bis Industries, Seven West Media and GenesisCare and currently serves on the board of directors of Bis Industries and GenesisCare. Prior to KKR, Justin was involved in the private equity investments area of Morgan Stanley in London. From 1996 to 1998 he worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley in New York and Houston, where he was involved in a number of mergers, acquisitions, and financings.
Matthew Davies, Non-Executive Director
Matthew Davies was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis Industries in August 2010.
Matt joined KKR in 2007 and is responsible for the firm’s corporate development efforts in Asia. From 2007 to 2012, he was a member of the private equity team in Sydney. Matt has been involved with the investment in Bis Industries and has served on its board of directors since 2010. Prior to joining KKR, he was with Credit Suisse in Sydney as part of the Investment Banking group where he was involved in numerous merger, acquisition, leveraged finance and equity capital markets transactions. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons1) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons1) from the University of Queensland.
John Beevers, Non-Executive Director
John Beevers was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis Industries in July 2013.
John’s career in the mining, explosives and chemical industries spans more than 25 years, having held a number of functional and management positions. John was with Orica for a period of 20 years, originally joining in 1985 in the Operations Division of Mining Services (Australia) and has held a variety of senior management positions in Mining Services and manufacturing with leadership roles in Technology, Operations and Business. John served as the Chief Executive Officer of Orica Mining Services of Orica Ltd from 2008 to 2013. John has developed and gained a broad international experience base, having managed teams in North America, Europe, South Africa and Australasia.
Leigh Clifford, Senior Advisor to Management
Leigh Clifford was appointed Senior Advisor to Bis Industries management in February 2009.
Leigh currently serves as Chairman of the Qantas Board, appointed in November 2007, having been a Qantas Director since August 2007. Leigh is also a Director of Bechtel Group in the USA and Chairman of Bechtel Australia, Senior Advisor to KKR, Chairman of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and a Board Member of the National Gallery of Victoria Foundation. Leigh was previously a Director of Barclay’s Bank in the United Kingdom and retired as Chief Executive and Director of Rio Tinto, after 37 years with the company, in 2007.
